PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE

Brief Description of the Course
To organize a medical records department, it is essential to have personal trained in medical record technology by means of covering topics such as medical record sciences, Anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, Biostatistics, medical record& hospital administration, coding of disease& operations, computer applications and English and communication skills in its curriculum.

The course involves hands-on training in

  • Registration of patients at the admission and O.P.D counters- the points of interaction with patients and their attendants.
  • Checking & compiling hospital census.
  • Systematic assembling of medical records and quantitative ‘ deficiency checking’ for completion.
  • Coding of disease and operations for generating statistical reports.
  • Dealing with medico-legal aspects of cases.
  • Liaison with medico-legal aspects of cases.
  • Initation of formalities for registration of births and deaths, and liaison with the registrar (Births and deaths).

Eligibility

Basic educational qualification. 10+2 passed from a recognized Board Examination with Physics, Chemistry Biology and English with 50% marks.

  • The candidate must have completed 17 years of age and must be less than 25 years of age on the date of commencement of the course.
  • Knowledge of computer usage or typing will be an added advantage.
